Golfing is a favorite pastime of many!  And with birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and other holidays always around the corner what better idea could you give the golf enthusiast than a golf painting?  But always remember when buying a golf painting for yourself or someone else it’s always important to keep a few simple things in mind.

The first thing you need to think about is the price.  How much can you afford, or better yet how much are you willing to spend on someone if it’s a gift.  Golf pictures can range from very low for open edition prints to very high for limited edition canvas prints.  The price also increases if it has been signed by the artist.  Check to see it the print is an open edition or limited edition print.  Limited edition prints are usually marked…for example 15/250 prints.

The next thing you need to consider is the size of the painting.  How much room do you have on your wall?  Is the painting going to be by itself or will you have other pictures next to it?  You don’t want to have a small 4 x 5 inch print on a huge wall.  In the same sense you do not want to buy a huge painting and have no room to put it.  Also if it is framed or heavy make sure you have a place where you can make sure it is secured to the wall.  If the painting is smaller it might be wise to buy two smaller paintings, maybe one painting of the 5th hole and another of the 18th hole on the same golf course.

You should also consider the artist.  Is this a favorite or yours or the person you are buying the gift for?  Is the artist popular?  Will the paining increase in value over the years?  And also remember to see if the painting is signed by the artist.  The painting will always be worth more that way!  Some people can be particular about something they will be hanging on their wall, so make sure the artist is someone you or the gift recipient will like.

Always remember who your painting is for.  Maybe the painting is for someone who loves landscapes or loves a certain golf course.  Maybe they have been golfing somewhere recently and would love to go back.  There’s not a better way to help them remember than a painting.  Or maybe they are a huge fan of a professional golfer, in that case buy them a picture of the golfer on the green or the golfer just after his swing.  Other times a painting of some golf clubs might do the trick or any other picture that might bring back good memories.

If you are buying online make sure to check out their shipping and handling policies.  Also it’s always a good idea to pay for shipping insurance, if it’s not already included, if it’s a big purchase.  You should also check on their return policy.  You don’t want your painting shipped and have it damaged and have no way to return it or get your money back.

Golf paintings are a great gift for any golf fanatic!  Just keep in mind these few simple tips and you can’t go wrong.
